Print catalogs and brochures present a unique challenge: translated text expands or contracts relative to the source (French typically runs 15 to 20% longer than English; German up to 30%), and this directly affects the layout. Text overflow breaks the grid, pushes images out of position, and creates reprinting costs if not caught before press. Translation and DTP must be handled as a single workflow.
BeTranslated provides catalog and brochure translation with native DTP integration in InDesign, QuarkXPress, and other publishing formats. We accept InDesign and IDML source files, extract translatable text via XLIFF or XML export, translate in a CAT tool that preserves formatting tags, and return the translated file ready for final proofing. For multilingual editions, we coordinate all language versions against a single deadline.
