For consecutive assignments such as court hearings, legal depositions, medical consultations, and business meetings, one interpreter works in the room speaking after each speaker. For simultaneous assignments such as conferences and large events, we provide two or more interpreters per booth working in relay with professional sound equipment. For common language pairs in locations we cover regularly, 48 to 72 hours is typically sufficient. For specialist sectors, rare language pairs, or international deployment, we recommend five to ten business days to ensure the right interpreter is available.
Whisper interpreting (chuchotage) is a form of simultaneous interpreting where the interpreter sits beside one or two listeners and speaks quietly into their ear in real time, without booth or equipment. It is used for small delegations in meetings where only a few participants need a different language.
