The key differences are in script (Urdu uses Nastaliq Perso-Arabic; Hindi uses Devanagari), formal vocabulary (Urdu draws from Persian and Arabic; Hindi from Sanskrit), and cultural association. Yes. Urdu written in the Nastaliq style requires specific typesetting software and expertise to render correctly. Generic Arabic-script typesetting tools do not produce acceptable Urdu output.
