InDesign is the professional standard for print and digital publishing.
Translating an InDesign document is not just a language task. As text expands or contracts in the target language, text frames overflow, captions detach from images, and hyphenation settings need adjusting for the new language. A translator without DTP skills delivers an INDD file full of overset text that requires hours of layout work to correct.
BeTranslated pairs each InDesign translation with a native-language DTP specialist who works in the translated file to refit text frames, adjust leading and tracking, correct paragraph composition settings, and verify that the document is ready for print or export. IDML (the exchange format) is used for maximum compatibility across InDesign versions.
Overset text frames, misaligned captions, widow and orphan lines, and hyphenation issues are corrected by a native-language DTP specialist as part of the standard service.
InDesign layers are preserved. Text on locked layers, non-printing notes, and master page content are treated according to your brief.
Right-to-left scripts (Arabic, Hebrew) and CJK languages require different text composer settings. We configure InDesign's World-Ready Composer for correct line breaking and justification.
Translated INDD files are preflighted for missing links, font issues, and color profile consistency before delivery. Print-ready PDF exports are included on request.

Everything you need to know about translating Adobe InDesign files.
For DTP layout work you should provide the full InDesign package (File > Package in InDesign), which bundles the INDD file, all linked images, and the fonts used in the document. Without linked images we can translate text but cannot perform DTP layout checks or produce a print-ready preflight.
We work primarily with IDML (InDesign Markup Language) files, which are compatible across InDesign versions CS4 and later. Export your document as IDML (File > Export > InDesign Markup) before sending if you are unsure about version compatibility. We can re-open and save as INDD in the version you require.
Yes. InDesign books (.indb) that compile multiple chapter files are handled as a single project to ensure terminology consistency across all chapters. We process all linked INDD or IDML documents and return a complete book package.
Send us your Adobe InDesign file and we will quote as quickly as possible. Format preserved, meaning accurate, delivered on time.
